Roar! Have a dinosaur party
May 27, 2009
A young child's fascination with dinosaurs may never cease and with the release of the summer movie Land of the Lost next week that interest could be sparked once more.
For creative party planners, this is an opportunity to truly embrace the notion of a dinosaur party. While such an event will need to include brontosaurus party decorations and perhaps stegosaurus-shaped food (some chicken nuggets come pre-made in dinosaur form), the party can also call for its attendees to act like their favorite prehistoric creature.
This can be done with either store-bought dinosaur masks or home-made ones out of construction paper. You can also encourage children who know a little more about dinosaurs (which ones were meat eaters, which ones weren't) to educate other guests on the subject.
As an added element of fun, use a tall plant and hang pieces of candy on it like gummy worms and have the guests pretend to be dinosaurs by only using their mouth to eat off the "tree."
Don't forget to have a roaring contest too. Just be sure you have enough party favors for all the participants because you don't want a group of angry dinosaurs on your hands at the end of the day.
