Simple napkin fold for a dinner party
August 03, 2009
Elegance can be in the details and with an event such as a dinner party, it's easy for one minor detail to make or break an entire evening.
One example is how the napkin is folded on the table. While some create elaborate folded decorations, not everyone has such intricate skills when it comes to napkins. However, there is a simple fold that looks classy without being too difficult to create.
First, be sure you have napkin rings available to hold the fold in place. Next, take your cloth napkin and lay it on the table with one of the corners pointing at you (so instead of a square it resembles more of a diamond).
Start rolling one end of the napkin, from the corner, toward the middle. Do the same on the other side. This will be the back of the napkin when completed.
With both rolls in place, take the napkin ring and slip it on. Turn the napkin over to reveal your work and place at the table setting.
Now go forth and show off that fancy fold!
