Host an Emmy's viewing party
August 13, 2009
Everyone has their favorite TV show, primetime crush or program they will watch no matter what. The Emmy awards celebrate the best of American television, c and one way to have fun while watching is to host a party for friends.
The awards ceremony is set to air on September 20 so there is plenty of time to plan and catch up on past seasons. Since you're the host, you get to set the theme and one idea is to focus on your favorite show.
For example, if you can't skip an episode of Grey's Anatomy, it's a good idea to try to find snacks and drinks that are popular in Seattle. Fans of Lost may choose a tropical theme with exotic finger foods and drinks. Those who like Mad Men may want to have a classy, sixties vibe at the party, complete with devilled ham and martinis.
Put together a nominee list and let each guest predict who will take home an award. The person whose predictions are closest to the eventual outcome should receive a small silly toy or chocolate bar.
To make guests comfortable, prepare the living room with extra pillows, a couple of throw blankets and side tables for food so no one has to miss the action on TV.
