Old school recess games for outdoor party
August 20, 2009
In a world where the fashion from the past is creeping into the mainstream, it only seems natural to reach back to one's childhood for fun party activities.
For those who have an outdoor summer barbeque planned, it may be a fun idea to bring back some of the games people grew up with during school recess.
Hopscotch is a classic game that can be recreated with some sidewalk chalk and a couple of pebbles. Consider playing the game in the driveway or, better yet, on the sidewalk outside of the house.
Another fun game to bring back would be Four Square. Again, the sidewalk chalk will be needed, as well as a steady hand since the squares in the game should be of equal length. This will also require a big rubber ball, similar to the one used for dodgeball (which is another fun activity).
Finally, if you have a rather large guest list, and you want to be sure everyone is involved in the activity, one game that could do that is Red Rover. This involves forming two lines of people that will face each other and having people call out to the other team to send someone to try to break the line.
