Have a Fame-ous fete
September 18, 2009
If your kids can't wait for the release of the Fame remake to come out next Friday, September 25, you might consider throwing them a party to prepare.
Have everyone dress in their best 80s workout get-up. Encourage them to wear sweat bands, leg warmers, leggings and leotards in outrageous colors.
Decorate the house like a stage. Hang spotlights and build a platform for your young performers to strut their stuff. Design a curtain for the occasion and decorate it with metallic stars and glitter.
Once everyone arrives in dance duds, divide them into groups and assign each team a song from the movie's soundtrack. Instruct them to make up a quick routine to perform in front of one another.
While the groups are working on their moves, surprise your budding talent by designating an area of the house the dressing room. Take pictures of each tiny dancer ahead of time and set up stations for each one of them to put their faces on.
Put the photos in star-quality frames personalized to each child but color-coded by team and hang them above each station. Provide them with an array of dress-up items, such as feather boas, sequined headbands, and makeup if you feel comfortable.
When everyone is ready, host the dance-off in the stage area and award the winning team with tickets to the movie. Afterwards, keep the excitement high by showing the original version of the film.
