Everyone is Irish on St Patrick's Day!
March 03, 2010
Spring is approaching, which means that that St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner! To make sure that you have the luck of the Irish this year, make sure to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style!
To make sure that your friends don't make any other plans for the big day, send out St. Patrick's Day invitations as early as possible.
Let your invitations convey the mood of the party. If you're planning on a relaxed shindig, make it clear that your pals can expect a low-key celebration.
However, if you want this to be a bash to remember, urge guests to come dressed as leprechauns, and make it clear that anyone who is not decked out in green will be turned away at the door!
Request that your friends RSVP so that you know how many people to expect.
Turn your party space into the Emerald Isle
To make your fete special, go all out when putting up St. Patrick's Day decorations and preparing for your party. Reference the perennially green island by stringing twinkling green party lights and streamers around the room, and bring all of your potted plants into the main area to create a lush and verdant feeling.
To keep the gathering as fun and as possible, scatter St. Patrick's Day items like green balloons, green feather boas, green shamrocks illuminated with LED lights and green hair spray all around the room. As the party goes on, guests can pick up or discard the festive trinkets.
Offer guests Irish-themed party favors!
A fun party activity in honor of the holiday would be a trivia competition that tests the guests' knowledge of Ireland. Ask them questions about the culture of Ireland, prominent Irish Americans and important historical events.
Hand out Irish party favors to the guests, like green LED shot glasses, shamrock balloons with green lights inside of them and, of course, pints of Guinness.
Make sure to feed your guests!
On such a festive holiday, it's important to keep your guests full of hearty food! In addition to the traditional corn beef and cabbage, offer other green-themed party foods.
Arrange a platter of healthy green snacks like grapes, pears and celery for health-conscious guests to nibble on.
You could also make green milkshakes with mint-flavored ice cream, and use food coloring to turn soda and cocktails a bright green shade.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, make sure that you're with friends. The holiday is an excellent opportunity to kick back, relax and make memories with those who are closest to you.
