Movie parties can make you feel like a star!
March 05, 2010
Many film buffs wait with bated breath for Oscar night. The Academy Awards ceremony, which will take place this coming Sunday, March 7, is arguably the most influential night in the movie business.
The stars will don their gorgeous gowns and designer tuxedos, put on their fanciest jewels and step out onto the red carpet for a luxurious and exciting night.
But just because you and yours haven't appeared in any major motion pictures this year doesn't mean that you can't have a glamorous time, too!
Celebrate your love of films and all things glamorous with a movie party!
To get the night off to a swanky start, be sure to include on your movie party invitations that guests should come to your fancy fete dressed to the nines.
For women, a formal dress should be required, and guys can don a suit or tuxedo (in addition to adding to the theme of your party, guests are likely to love the chance to wear some of their fanciest duds).
Slip a foil premier ticket into the envelope, and ask that guests bring it with them to gain entrance to your exclusive party.
Then, head to your local fabric store and purchase a long narrow swath of red cloth. Before guests arrive, lay it out from the front door to the main party area so that they can have their time to shine on the "red carpet."
After the main attraction is in place, go to town with more movie decorations. Display any and all movie posters that you have accumulated over the years, put up film strip border trim, and string a garland of paper movie lights in swooping patterns from the ceiling.
Make sure to place a few movie star cardboard cutouts around, so that partygoers can pose for a pic with their favorite celebs.
Other movie party supplies that will add to the festive feel of your night can include cinema-themed beverage napkins, Hollywood centerpieces and silver balloons with a picture of the coveted golden statuette printed on them.
Before the ceremony commences, propose a toast with champagne, and have everyone sit down to a filling meal.
