Birthday parties should be unique, exciting and fun
April 15, 2010
Everyone loves a good birthday party, but how can we make ours exciting? The standard birthday bash includes food, decorations and good conversation. But if you really want to take your shindig to the next level, what should you do?
Believe it or not, planning a birthday party that shapes up to be the event of the year is possible! It just requires preparation, productivity, and of course, patience.
Choose an exciting invitationBirthday invitations are where it all begins. So how can you choose an invite that stands out and make people want to give it prime retail space on their refrigerator?
For starters, your invites shouldn't be run-of-the-mill white cards with black text on them. Think colors - lots of them. The more tints you see, the better.
Be daring: Order balloons with your event details on them, drive around to the homes of your guests and leave them tied to their door. There's no better way to get people pumped for your affair.
Buy decorationsBirthday party decorations are standard - you need them! Most party hosts place balloons, banners and streamers around the event space, which is a great way to get people ready to mix and mingle and channel their celebrating mood.
Be daring: Go for something that will really put a smile on your guests' faces. Turn the lights down low, but place a string of white lights all around your home or event space. This will really help people feel like they're at a club or a bar. Also, a disco ball is a great party-addition. It will surprise everyone - and they'll be sure to tell all their friends all about it the next day.
Order suppliesBirthday party supplies are necessary, but they can be fun too. Of course you need paper cups, plates and utensils - otherwise party patrons are going to be peeved when they don't have anything on which to place their food! Birthday party supplies usually have funny photos or are adorned with the guest of honor's new age.
Be daring: One thing is for sure - everyone loves a good costume party. To throw the ultimate birthday bash, tell your guests they must wear a costume. If they come to the event unprepared, have one ready for them. Make them dress as a big banana or chicken. For the guest of honor, have them put on a beer costume.
Kids love to go crazy
When it come to ordering kids birthday party supplies, feel free to go nuts. Kids can be wild and they love it when you are too. Most parents choose their supplies with special themes - something sports-related for boys, or something pink and frilly for girls.
Be daring: Here's where you can really let down your hair. We suggest purchasing a humongous piñata and placing it at the center of the room. Imagine a bunch of little girls squealing with delight when they get to break a life-sized Hello Kitty that's full of treats!
Remember, birthday parties can be a blast. Tailor it to your personality and have a ball.
