Kick off the summer with an impromptu party
June 01, 2010
The summer is here, which means one question is on people's minds as they go about their daily business - what shindig is coming up next?
It's safe to say there is a direct relationship between the temperature and people's party spirits. Those who often choose to stay inside and cradle a warm cup of cocoa during the colder months are more inclined to get a breath of fresh air, pick up a six pack and head to a friend's affair once the warm weather finally arrives.
So what better way to get all your loved ones together at the beginning of the summer season then with a party? Believe it or not, you don't need an excuse to have one.
One of the best types of events you can throw is a movie-themed bash. In fact, Hollywood party ideas are a dime a dozen.
This season, why not throw a Girl's Night Out bash? Sex and the City 2 just hit theaters, and gals across the country are going crazy for the film.
To start, make sure you decorate your home or event space with one signature color - pink! This rosy hue signifies all things that are girly, and your guests are bound to go crazy for it.
Consider purchasing a bunch of pink party goods, such as paper plates and cups. If you've got a lot of single ladies attending, try finding napkins that have cute phrases on them, such as "Sexy and Single" and "Work it, Girl!"
Also, don't forget, the beloved movie also shows quick snippets of Carrie and the gang from the 80s. Why not take this idea and run with it? In fact, if you want to invite guys to your party, it may be best to instead throw a decade party.
Decade themed party ideas are plentiful. Remember, it's all up to you and how creative you can get. If you decide to throw an 80s bash, call attention to the era as best as you can.
For starters, remember to stock up on music from the era. Try making a mix tape beforehand that has Tears for Fears, Madonna and Paula Abdul on it. If you want everyone to slow dance at some point during the evening, make sure you include The Bangles' infamous love ballad "Eternal Flame."
If you're looking to venture away from film motifs, why not throw a shindig that evokes images of an exotic locale?
For starters, you can allow your guests to feel as though they've landed on a tropical paradise with an amazing Hawaiian-themed party. Luau party ideas are easy to plan, and fiesta party ideas run the gamut.
Remember, it only takes a few days of solid work to coordinate an amazing event. While the summer brings great memories and good times no matter what, having a party for your friends will make the Summer of 2010 one for the books.
