Tee off with a great golf-themed birthday party
July 15, 2010
With the British Open underway and the PGA Championship less than a month down the road, this may very well be the best time of the year for golf fans. With such gorgeous weather, there are few things more enjoyable than heading out to the links for a round with a few friends. A great way to incorporate the love for this ageless game is to throw a golf-themed birthday party for a golf-lover in your life.
Sending great invitations is a fantastic way to begin preparing for your get together. There are a number options for including golf imagery in them, so pick the ones which you like best. One direction you could take is to go for a simple approach and send out invitations that feature balls and tees. If that is too ordinary, invitations with a silhouette of a golfer in mid-swing could be a nice variation. The writing does not have to be mundane, either. Including a series of golf references or terminology is a way to persuade guests to attend.
While golf-themed invitations are definitely a good start, appropriately-themed decorations are an even better way to add a creative element to your bash. A good start would be to hang a green metallic fringed table skirt. There are few places where green is more abundant than on a golf course, so adorning some of your tables with this decoration can bring the image of lush grass into your home. A similarly colored fringed door curtain can be a good choice, too. Balloons are a terrific addition to any decoration scheme, and that is no different for a golf-themed shindig. Having balloons with golfers on them floating around the house will be a subtle reminder of the game. Balloons can also be held down with a golf ball balloon weight to complete the motif. If you're looking to add some humor, positioning a cardboard stand up cut out of the Three Stooges dressed in traditional golf gear is sure to give guests a laugh.
Most golf tournaments have a raffle, and your party should be no different. Although the prize at a tournament might be some clubs, or a sleeve of balls, yours should be a little more lighthearted, such as a wacky visor or a hole-in-one golf beret. For the biggest winner, provide a plastic trophy. While it isn't the Claret Jug or the Wanamaker Trophy, it will still give them something to cherish. Green plasticware for food is a good idea, especially since it matches the fringed table skirt and door curtain. Try to provide guests with plates and napkins that are complete with lots of golf-related images, such as golf balls, clubs and tees.
Whether they are a Phil Mickelson fan or a loyal Tiger Wood follower a golf themed party that is up to par is sure to please the guest of honor. Do not leave anything out and your soirée is sure to be a hole in one.
