Star Wars Theme Party Ideas
09/27/17
Whether you want to celebrate May the Fourth, as in "May the Force be with you," on Star Wars Day, May 4th, or are just a huge Star Wars fan in general, it's always a good idea to throw a Star Wars party! Host an unforgettable event by inviting your fellow Star Wars fans to arrive dressed in their finest Star Wars costumes, while you transform your party space into a galaxy far, far away with outerspace decorations, and serve Star Wars themed fare to complete your out-of-this-world celebration. Use these party tips to plan for your Star Wars get-together.
Start with the invitations.
First decide where you would like your Star Wars party to be held. Maybe you'd like to do a Star Wars themed bar crawl, or perhaps, you are more comfortable having the get-together in the comfort of your own home. Once you have decided on the location, you can send out the invites. Go the old-fashioned route and send Star Wars themed invites through the mail, or send them out quickly with electronic invitations. Be sure to include all the details of your event, including time, location and that guests are required to wear a costume.

Decorate your party space with outerspace decorations.
If you plan to do a Star Wars bar crawl, then, obviously, you don't need any decorations--unless you want to decorate your home as a starting point for the event. However, if you are hosting the party at your home, decorating is a must if you want this party to be unforgettable! Transform your entertainment area into a galaxy by covering your walls with black star scene setters to make it appear as if you are in outerspace. For a more elaborate decoration, you can create your own "scene setter" using black construction paper and painting on (or splattering) stars using glow paint.
Create your own Star Wars banner or sign by tracing printable letters onto white construction paper and cutting them out. Hang the sign directly on one of your scene setters, or string it above the entranceway to your party. If you hang the Star Wars banner in your entranceway, add a few alien light-up balloons on both sides of the doorway. Additionally, hang white, black, red and gold paper lanterns above your party space.

If you would like your Star Wars party to be more of a glow-in-the-dark party, replace the paper lanterns with glowing beach balls. These beach balls are similar to regular beach balls, only they are clear and have a glow stick inside of them. Hang these beach balls from the ceiling around your party area. Be sure you crack the glow sticks just before your party begins so they will illuminate throughout your event. Be sure to add black lights around your party area to create the glow-in-the-dark atmosphere.
Even though your guests will arrive in Star Wars costumes, you can hand out party favors for them to add to their attire. Set out a table near the entranceway with a variety of glow items, including glow necklace, glow bracelets, glow eyeglasses, etc. for guests to grab and wear. And, it without saying that every guest is going to need a light saber, so hand one to each guest upon arrival!
Serve your guests Star Wars themed snacks.
Set out a buffet table with snacks and beverages that guests can come by and grab whenever they need some refreshments. Top your food table with a silver metallic table cover. Set out Star Wars theme paper plates and napkins for guests to eat off of. Title your snack options with Star Wars themed names, and use name tags so guests will know what's what. Some Star Wars themed snacks you can serve are "Han Burgers" and "Hoth Dogs." Cook these burgers and hotdogs on the grill, and set out toppings for guests to add themsevles. Add some fruit into the mix with "Obi-Wan Kabobies," or fruit kabobs. Slide a mixture of your favorite fruits onto wooden kabob sticks and place them into a platter dish. Your guests will get thirsty eating all of these Star Wars snacks, so set out a pitcher of "Yoda Soda" for them to drink. To make "Yoda Soda," simply add green food coloring to any clear soda, or create a green punch using 7Up, Sprite or ginger ale and a tub of lime sherbert. If you would like to make your punch alcoholic, just add vodka!

Between the costumes, snacks and Star Wars film(s), your guests should be well entertained. If you would like more activities, try doing some Star Wars trivia!
